After funding is complete, site preparation and drilling begin. Once the rig releases, completion crews move in, and that process typically takes one to five weeks. First revenue hits once surface facilities are connected and pipeline or trucking is scheduled. Most investors see their first production check within 60 to 120 days of funding.

Geoscientists map the subsurface using gravity surveys, magnetic data, and 3D seismic imaging to identify promising formations. They integrate data from nearby producing wells and analyze source rock, reservoir quality, seal integrity, and trap geometry.
