About the Company

Company Overview

Short Boilerplate

Bass Energy & Exploration (BassEXP) is a family-owned oil and gas exploration and production company headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. With over 100 years of combined drilling expertise across the Mid-Continent basin, BassEXP offers qualified investors direct working interest participation in oil and gas wells with significant tax advantages and transparent operations.

Long Boilerplate

Bass Energy & Exploration was founded by the Bass family with one goal: treat every investor with the respect and integrity they deserve. Headquartered in Oklahoma City β€” close to the formations we operate in and the service companies, regulatory bodies, and industry partners we work with daily β€” BassEXP is an independently owned and operated exploration and production company. Our team of geologists and engineers brings over 100 years of combined experience researching, evaluating, and overseeing the geology on every well. They have been working together as a team for more than 20 of those years, focused on Oklahoma's SCOOP, STACK, and Anadarko Basin formations. BassEXP runs lean. No luxury offices. No inflated overhead. No wasted dollars. Every dollar we save on overhead is a dollar that stays in the well program. The Bass family invests their own capital alongside every investor, because we believe the best way to earn trust is to share the same risk. We report everything β€” every cost, every production number, every decision. BassEXP offers qualified investors the opportunity to hold a direct working interest in actual wells, take the associated tax deductions (up to 85% in year one through intangible drilling costs), and participate in the upside alongside the Bass family.

Mission Statement

We find good projects at fair prices and treat every investor with the respect and integrity they deserve. We invest our own capital alongside our partners in every single well, report everything transparently, and focus on what we know β€” the SCOOP, STACK, and Anadarko Basin formations of Oklahoma.

What's New

Current Initiatives

Free investor tools and resources built by BassEXP. Each description and link below is ready to copy and paste into your coverage.

Oil & Gas Investor Tax Calculator

A free, interactive calculator that lets investors estimate first-year tax savings from intangible drilling cost (IDC) deductions and the percentage depletion allowance. Users input their investment amount and tax bracket to see projected savings in real time.

An interactive tool that projects personal after-tax returns across a well's production life. Investors adjust nine parameters β€” investment size, working interest, production rates, oil price, and tax assumptions β€” to see year-by-year projections with hyperbolic decline curve modeling.

NRI & Revenue Waterfall Calculator

A visual tool showing exactly how gross well revenue flows down to an investor's monthly distribution check β€” layer by layer, dollar by dollar. Users adjust working interest, royalty burden, and operating costs to model their specific participation.

Oil & Gas Investment Comparison Tool

A side-by-side comparison tool modeling the same dollar invested five ways: oil & gas working interest, S&P 500, REITs, municipal bonds, and corporate bonds β€” all calculated on an after-tax basis over a 10-year horizon.

DPP vs. Royalty Interest Comparison

An interactive comparison between direct participation program (DPP) working interests and royalty interests, modeling both structures on an after-tax basis with the same investment amount to show risk, return, and tax treatment differences.

Accredited Investor Pre-Qualification Quiz

A four-question self-screening tool that helps prospective investors determine if they meet SEC accredited investor standards for direct oil and gas participation. Takes about 60 seconds β€” no personal information required.

Live Commodity Prices & Rig Count Dashboard

A real-time dashboard displaying WTI Crude, Brent Crude, Natural Gas, and gasoline futures prices alongside Baker Hughes rig counts for Oklahoma and the United States.

Free Oil & Gas Investor AI Agent

A downloadable AI agent skill trained on oil and gas well economics, tax code provisions (IRC Sections 263(c), 611, 613, 469), formation data, and direct participation program structures. Works with Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini. Investors can ask questions about well returns, tax deductions, operator due diligence, and formation economics β€” and receive data-driven answers with links to specialized tools on BassEXP.com.
